Masjid Hamza
Embark on a journey through the rich history and vibrant community spirit of Masjid Hamza. Nestled in the heart of Extension 9, Lenasia, this beacon of faith and learning has been a cornerstone since its inception in 1982.
Picture this: Two hours of relentless dedication paved the way for the establishment of the Ext. 9 Jamaat Khana and Madressa, marking the humble beginnings of Masjid Hamza. Located on Stand 8208/8209, Scorpio Drive, this sacred space was envisioned to serve the burgeoning community of Extension 9.
Fast forward to March 1988, where the community rallied together with unwavering resolve. Their collective efforts fueled a passionate drive towards the construction of a comprehensive institution. Masjid, Madressa, Imaan & Muazzin Quarters – a vision taking shape to cater not only to the 500 households within its reach but also to embrace the neighboring informal settlements.
The wheels of progress turned as construction commenced in August 1990, culminating in the grand unveiling of Masjid Hamza in 1993. It was a momentous occasion, as dignitaries and esteemed guests, including the revered MI. Ebrahim Bham, graced the event with their presence. MASJID-E-HAMZA was born, a testament to unity and devotion.
But Masjid Hamza is more than just bricks and mortar; it’s a hub of learning and spiritual enlightenment. With a current enrollment of approximately 195 students, the Madressa stands as a beacon of knowledge, offering education from preschool to class 10. Guiding this educational journey is the esteemed Ml. Abrarulhaq Essack, ensuring excellence in every lesson.
For the women of the community, Wednesday mornings hold a special significance. Adult classes provide a nurturing environment for growth and camaraderie, enriching lives beyond measure.
And let’s not forget the guardians of tradition – the Hifz class, a testament to preserving the sacred Quran. Under the guidance of MI. Abrarulhaq Essack, students embark on a journey of memorization and devotion, upholding the timeless teachings of Islam.
But Masjid Hamza’s commitment extends beyond its walls. Since 2013, the dedicated Zakaat Committee, led by MI. Ali Asmaljee, has been a lifeline for the local and surrounding community, providing support and assistance where it’s needed most.
Join us as we celebrate the legacy of Masjid Hamza – a symbol of faith, education, and community empowerment. Come, be a part of our journey, where every step is a testament to the enduring spirit of unity and service.
